The Santa Chiara, in the Spaccanapoli region of Naples, is situated opposite the Gesù Nuovo. The leading monument of Angevin Gothic in Naples, the spectacular Santa Chiara Church was constructed between 1310 and 1328.
This ancient Naples church has undergone much renovation and many changes over the years. In World War II, bombing sadly destroyed many of the original frescoes that once covered the interior of the Santa Chiara Church.
Attractions at Naples' Santa Chiara Church include a vast rectangular hall, a restored 18th-century marble floor, beautiful tombs of notable Italians - including some sculpted by Giovanni and Pacio Bertini of Florence in the mid 1300s, and the Chiostro delle Clarisse, Naples' most famous and beloved cloister.
